So, let’s start this year with the reassurance that we get to achieve all our goals and get back on track within no time. While, many have already started ways to make their houses a better place to live in, we have been busy gathering ideas for you to keep up with new home design trends in 2021!

If you are bored or already over how your house looks and need an upgrade, then keep reading!

1. Brick designs

As the obsession with vintage and 90’s themed décor has increased over the years, the brick walls are making a comeback! We are not talking about the red sunburnt bricks but beautiful bricks used to add warmth and personality to your space.

2. Expandable layouts

A house usually changes and grows along with the family living inside. Similarly, keeping this idea in mind, people are trying a different approach to upgrading their house. Many people are considering multi-purpose rooms that can make more space.

3. A step closer to nature

If anyone was able to survive the lockdown without any access to the outdoors or any outdoor areas would know the importance of nature. Outdoor spaces are one of the most desirable areas for making new and innovative improvements. With progressive architectural ideas, interior designers have been reporting a high demand for designs to connect the indoors with the outdoors.

4. Bio designer furniture

Bio design is the creation of furniture and objects from living organisms like waste, bacteria, and fungi. Today, this sounds like science fiction but it is also the latest frontier in product design. Most bio- designers are young and like to experiment and come up with environmentally friendly solutions and the market is now offering a wide range of products.

5. Multi zones kitchen

In a traditional setting, a three-zone work triangle creates a more efficient and effortless connection between refrigerator, sink, and range. But in these modern times, families want their kitchen to emphasize other tasks and allow more cooks. Hence, the designers heard all your problems and came up with a smart solution know as work trapezoid. A work trapezoid will now include areas for baking, prepping, chopping, and much more. Sounds good, right?

6. Dressed up / tailored kitchen styles

One kitchen look that never goes out of style is a custom look with a collected over-time aesthetic. These styles include features of a mix of greys, creams, light woods with dark moody accents. A sophisticated mix of textures, materials, cabinet styles with other architectural details makes your kitchen look dressed up. Let 2021 be the year for you to give your kitchen a new look!

7. Large showers

While many homeowners tend to keep their bathroom space unchanged, a majority of them today are making their shower bigger! 2 out of 5 homeowners who renovated their master bedroom say they rely on their new space for rest and a larger shower increases their comfort.

8. Pergola

Creating an outdoor space that is comfortable and elegant can be a bit of a challenge. Especially, if you don’t have any trees to block out the sun. Thankfully, it is easy to install a pergola that provides both shade and style. It carves out an inviting space when outfitted with comfy furniture.

9. Backyard cottages

If you are someone who needs a private space for yourself just to relax or even carry out your office work then, adding a backyard cottage is a great solution. The standalone structures can be used as a gym, an office, a lounge, a meditation area, or whatever you want to convert it into.

10. Pass through areas

Hop on to the trend train and renovate your house a little. Add in a pass-through between the kitchen and outdoor area for effortlessly transferring food, drinks, and other supplies quickly to the center of the action. If you are concerned about bugs or insects, adding a slide in between will solve all your concerns.

11. Peaceful gardens

Yet another idea to modernize your abode. Unlike the previous years, it is reported that 3 out of 5 families with a house wished they had a peaceful garden! While some of them are looking out to expand their outdoors to convert them into dining, lounging, or playing space, a lot of them are now seeking out quiet space that provides a tranquil break from work. Especially after the Work From Home (WFH) culture became the norm, families want a space to refresh their minds and rejuvenate.

12. Pools

Having a pool in the backyard is one of the topmost requests of the homeowners. It can be expensive but it surely does enhance your happiness in an unimaginable way. If you have plans to add a pool in 2021, don’t wait. If you are in the process of buying a new house, don’t hesitate to invest in properties that come along with pools!

13. Home offices

As mentioned previously, the pandemic did change the working culture, and Work from Home (WFH) has become the new norm. Adding in a home office is much needed now to enhance the productivity of you or your family members for remote work, video calls, home assignments, etc. Let your new home office be the to-go place and personalize it the way you and your family members like. After all, work shouldn’t be boring.

14. Work nooks

If you are someone who cannot create a separate space to carry out your work, then invest in a compact and efficient work nook or a work station. All you need is a functioning laptop to participate in meetings while managing other household work. Sounds better?

15. Cleanable materials

Another smart and innovative solution that you need is easy to clean materials. Many manufacturers are getting behind materials that are easy to maintain and clean. This not only reduces the efforts you put in to keep your house clean but also saves you a lot of time.

With keeping these trends in mind and providing our homes with places of nourishment, safety, relaxing, and health, many people are hoping this is a concept that will define living in the year 2021.
